Repost: Dave Barry, Kindred Spirit

According to a Blogthings quiz, my Famous Blogging Twin is Dave Barry.
... Which is perfect, because I am a huge Dave Barry fan.
I even have his page-a-day calendar (a tried & true test of fan loyalty!) and a personal, handwritten postcard from him on my fridge.

See?

I sent him my
Country Music Song Titles, and he sent me a postcard!
In my book, that's as good as published!

Hmmm...

While we're looking at my fridge,
let's take a little tour, shall we?

I'm getting a playful, juvenile, introspective,
zen vibe from all this stuff.

I wonder what my shrink would think.

It's true ... a woman does like the smell of a horse on a man.

Memorial Day cartoon about a visit to the

Vietnam Monument in DC. Very nice.

A few postcards...

... some Thoreau, and wait, what is that I spy?
I see a David head peeking from beneath?

Let's see what that is...

...

... heh heh ...

I went to Italy, remember? It's art !

Apropos.

Fighting off life's demons while maintaining fabulous hair! That's me!

Then we have sort of a
Robert Frost-Chinese fortune cookie-Curious George-
baby's foot stamped onto music paper-insipration-montage.

Cheer & spirituality each time I go for a snack!

Nearby, a random assortment of childishness...
Granted, these are on the side of the fridge, not the front.
I just can't bear to dispose of these old bits of memorabilia.
And who doesn't enjoy a joke about
lutefisk?

and who hasn't felt a sin coming on?

Ah yes. Now, here we have a special item.
A souvenir from when I met the legendary
Caroll Spinney
(the real BB--also does Oscar the Grouch!)

Whew, all this psychoanalysis and reminiscing has given me a hankering for a snack.

Yum, Greek Yogurt.
Or maybe some of that veggie mess in the Tupp behind it.
Or no...
miso?
Oh, here we go ... I found just what I wanted.

Yep, I am officially in for the night.

Chow Down

Appetizer
List 3 emotions you experienced this week.

Dismay -- when I realized I had thrown out a girl's project by mistake
Revulsion -- as I entered the dumpster
Relief -- when I discovered the project, intact, under 35 bags of lunch garbage

Soup
Name a car you’d love to have.

I don't care much about cars. I would love to ride a bike wherever I go.

Salad
Describe your typical morning routine.

Oh, it's the best! After I shower, I do my hair & makeup at my computer desk while I drink my coffee and read email. My clothes tumble in the dryer as I get ready, and then I walk to the dryer in my underwear to get dressed. My morning drive typically includes a stop at Starbucks, unless it's Friday, when my friend treats us all to coffee.

Main Course
Have you ever emailed someone famous? If so, who, and what did you say to them? Did they reply?
Prepare for a highly linkefied reply: I have emailed Stephen King and Dave Barry. Stephen King, because the book I got from his Foundation did not arrive; I got a reply from his personal assistant. Dave Barry, because I sent him the list of country music song titles I had made up, and he sent me a postcard. These are my brushes with fame. My biggest brushes with fame were my Q&A moment at Radio City Music Hall and the time I was mentioned in the San Francisco Chronicle for living in Human Zoo.

Dessert
Do you listen to podcasts? If so, which ones?
Nope.

Blogthings is Scientifically Accurate!

Your Famous Blogger Twin is Dave Barry

Funny, witty, and clever!

Inspired by Miss Lilith, I re-took (not a word) this quiz a few months after my first effort and got the same result. This proves two things:

  1. Dave Barry and I are hatched from the same egg
  2. Blogthings is highly accurate!
  3. I might be a little bit of a Dave Barry stalker
  4. I cannot count to two
  5. It's my blog, I can do whatever I want! So eat my shorts!
  6. Does anyone say "eat my shorts" anymore?

Unfortunately, the Who's Your Daddy? quiz is not as accurate. I am upset that Blogthings would use such a wobbly system. People seeking Daddies come to their site, expecting comfort, and instead are disillusioned. I entered my daddy's name three times and got three different answers (OJ, Darth Vader, and Captain Kangaroo). None of which are the same as the Daddy I got the first time I did the quiz.

I'm too upset to finish this post. Besides, I can hear the school bus coming.
